What I’m doing

I know I’m not alone in feeling that 2020 has been a rough year, and 2021 is off to a rocky start, too. No need for me to go into the details, but suffice it to say that I need a break.

One of the first things new friends tend to learn about me is that I love to bike. So what better way to reset than a month-long bikepacking adventure through the American Southwest at the start of 2021? There will be sun (unlike the Pacific Northwest this time of year). There will be burritos. And responsibilities will be largely reduced to getting from point A to point B and staying alive in the process.

Have I done anything like this before? No. But another thing new friends pretty quickly learn about me is that I’ve got my fair share of moxie and that I love to try new things.

So I’m learning how to strap gear to my bike, researching the climate and terrain of Southern California, Arizona and New Mexico, and saving up vacation time in preparation for what I hope to be a refreshing start to 2021.
